Hispanic American Senator

José Manuel Santoyo, Corsicana, TX   Major: Human Rights and Spanish

  1. Work with CHAS and other multicultural/Latino Organizations to build new leaders within the SMU Hispanic/Latino community
  2. Begin a scholarship initiative to fundraise for a permanent Hispanic Alumni Scholarship.
  3. Work with study abroad office to implement Study Abroad for Undocumented Students program. 4. Support efforts to implement LGBTQ, Veterans, and Athletes special interest seats within the student senate. 
 

Transfer Senator

Emily Hyde, Fort Worth, TX   Major: Biology with Classical Studies minor

  1. Getting to know fellow transfer students and Senators
  2. Bolster inclusivity across campus
  3. Increase opportunities for transfer students to meet one another
 

African American Senator

Naomi Samuel, Garland, TX   Major: Finance with English minor

  1. Bettering the experience of colored people on campus.
  2. Opening dialogues about social justice issues in the nation to our student body.
  3. Opening up people's perspectives when it comes to cultural awareness
