Student Senate Committees
The SMU Student Senate operates through a committee structure designed to represent student interests, steward student funds responsibly, oversee elections, and ensure organizational accountability. Committees are established in the Student Senate By-Laws and serve as the primary working bodies of the Senate
Current Standing Committees
Provides strategic leadership and coordination for the overall direction and operations of the Student Senate.
Reviews and allocates Student Activity Fee funding to student organizations and initiatives in accordance with Finance Standards.
Manages Senate outreach, transparency, and student engagement through public communications and marketing efforts.
Oversees the recognition, compliance, and review of student organizations, including charter approvals and disciplinary actions
Monitors and manages designated Student Senate investments to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
Enhances student engagement by building relationships with student organizations, educating them on Senate processes, collecting feedback, and reporting insights to the Senate to strengthen communication and advocacy.
Current Seasonal Committees
Administers and enforces all Student Body election procedures, including candidate eligibility, campaigning rules, and election complaints.
Reviews applications and selects recipients for Student Senate-administered scholarships.
