Opinions of the Court

Cases before the Judicial Court are numbered in chronological order within each session of the Judicial Branch. Each writing issued by the Court, including opinions, orders, and responses, will follow the format JC-[Session Number]-[Writing Number]. For example, the first writing of the 19th Judicial Session would be JC-19-01, the second JC-19-02, and so on.

In line with the Judicial Branch Bylaws, the Court will maintain a complete archive of its writings. The records of the first eighteen sessions of the SMU Judicial Branch are currently being searched in coordination with the DeGolyer University Archives, along with archived Senate records and reporting from The Daily Campus, to preserve and reconstruct the Court’s historical record.
